The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Government Degree College Bharmour is a flagship initiative aimed at nurturing the spirit of Social Service Through Community Service among students. Rooted in the motto “Not Me, But You”, NSS inspires young minds to embrace selflessness and actively contribute to societal progress.

📜 History & Background

Established on 24 September 1969, the National Service Scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Over time, NSS has evolved into a nationwide movement, empowering youth to address societal challenges with compassion and innovation.

👥 Membership & Eligibility

Students from the first and second years of undergraduate programs at Government Degree College Bharmour are eligible to enrol as NSS volunteers.

  • Completion of 240 hours of regular community service activities during two years of membership.
  • Participation in one Special Annual Camp during the course of study.
  • Regular activities are conducted both on campus and in adopted areas.

  • Awareness campaigns on public health, road safety, environmental conservation, and disaster preparedness.
  • Plantation drives, blood donation camps, and community cleanliness programmes.
  • Skill-building seminars focused on leadership development and social engagement.
