Himachal Pradesh University follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under RUSA, providing academic flexibility and uniform standards in higher education. CBCS enables students to select subjects from structured combinations of Core, Elective, Skill-Based, and Ability Enhancement Courses, evaluated through a grading and credit system.

- AECC + SEC: 24 Credits
- DSE + GE: 36 Credits

- Failure in one or two papers : Promotion allowed with compartment; two chances (supplementary + annual) to clear.
- Failure in three or more papers: Student must repeat the entire academic year.
- Degree must be completed within five years from the year of admission.
- Annual Exams: March–April
- Supplementary Exams : September–October
- Minimum 75% attendance in lectures/tutorials/practicals is mandatory.
- 65–74%: Exemption may be granted with valid reasons.
- 50–64%: Exemption only with Government Hospital Medical Certificate.
- Up to 25% relaxation permitted for NCC, NSS, Sports, Youth Festivals, Educational Tours, etc., with authenticated proof.
As per HPU regulations, Inter-College Migration is governed by University norms and processed through the prescribed online or institutional procedure. Approval from:
- Principal of both colleges
- University Authority
- Submission of Migration Certificate, Character Certificate, and Attendance Record
- Payment of the prescribed migration fee
The Principal and teaching staff are authorized to impose fine, suspension, or expulsion for misconduct or violation of discipline. Students are expected to:
- Show respect and courtesy to faculty, staff, and peers.
- Maintain silence and decorum in classrooms and library
- Carry valid Identity Card at all times.
- Refrain from ragging, substance abuse, vandalism, or disruptive behavior.
- Follow leave and examination rules strictly.
