Govt. College Bharmour library serves as a repository of wonderful treasures ranging from a large number of books, journals, Magazines disciplines/subjects of study. Through INFLIBNET, approximately 85,00 journals from all major publishers can be accessed. Library has its own digital catalogue and members can search the required documents on the recently installed information kiosks. The entire library is under surveillance through CCTV cameras installed at various locations.
We provide our students with different resources and above all a study environment they need. Library staff is available throughout the premises to assist the members in finding books and journals from 10.00 AM till 4.00 PM on all working. Efforts are being made to strengthen the library in terms of infrastructure books, journals and facilities for the students in the days to come.

Govt. College Bharmour, the premier Educational Institution of HP Govt. has a good library catering to the needs and requirements of the strength of about 350 Students on daily basis. The library has a collection of more than 4000 books. There is also a separate Reference Section having rare/valuable books. In the library students are provided 5 newspapers on daily basis. There are 10 magazines and 04 journals which have been subscribed for the students to prepare for competitive exams. 03 computers with internet access have already been installed in the College library for the benefit of the students. We also provide Book Bank facility to SC/ST students form where needy students can take their Syllabus related books for whole year.
Library users can access e-resources on these computers. The library offers online access to e-journals and e-books through INFLIBNET under N-LIST program in which access to 31,35,000+ ebooks and 9000+ ejournals are provided. Full text ebooks can also be downloaded or printed directly from the publisher’s website under this project.
Library has SOUL3.0 (ILMS) software for easy management of its resources. Books are being catalogued in this software and these can be searched by author, title and subject keyword. We use DDC scheme for classification of books. Efforts are being taken to fully computerize the library in due course.
We have a big study / sitting area which remains packed throughout the day. The library is also used for showing documentaries, movies etc. for enhancing students knowledge. All enrolled students (old + new admissions) are also issued Digital ID/Library card by the Library staff.
The library has a staff strength of only two i.e. one Asstt. Librarian and One Library Attendant. We have been provided one Library Attendant to manage the library smoothly.

  • ОРAC    OPAC is available under SOUL 3.0 software scheme for searching library catalogue. Library gives students on the spot facility to search for books.
  • Career Guidance     One of the important state-of-the-art services especially for the aspiring students. Students are catered with various career related information and information resources on request Career guidance and lectures on self development of students are organized in the library from time to time. Collection consists of electronic resources, audio-visual materials, books, magazines, etc which are effectively helping them in preparation for their prospective professional career.
  • Institutional Membership      In the month of June all enrolled students (old + new admissions) are issued ID/Library card by Library staff. Institutional membership card bearers can able to access resources only by maintaining Library rules and regulations. Students can get their library security refunded within one year after leaving the college otherwise the security stand forfeited. 
  •  Book borrowing facility   
    a) Students: 4 books for home study for 2 weeks. The borrower shall be responsible for the safety/preservation of the book drawn by her. Fine of Re. 1/- per day per book will be charged beyond due date of submission of the book from the defaulter student. In case a book is found mutilated, torn, defaced or misplaced the actual cost of the book plus 20% of the original cost will be charged from such student. Reference books are to be consulted in library only.
    b) Faculty members: 6 books for One Month
    c)  Non-Teaching Staff members: 4 books for one month 
  • Reading Room facility     Reading room facility is available to students and staff members in the reading room during the library hours i.e. 10AM to 4PM. The library has capacity for about 50 users.
  • Current Awareness Service (CAS)       The newly arrived books list / book jackets are displayed to attract the users. The information for CAS is also taken from the Newspapers (Press cutting), relevant portions of magazines and books etc. Personal assistance and guidance is provided to the new as well as to the old readers, if required, to make the best use of the library collection.

1.Students will be allowed to issue four books at a time, provided they have their ID cum library card. Loss of the ID card must be reported immediately to the library.
2. Failure to return the book(s) on the 14th day from the date of issue will entail a fine of Re. 1 per book per day, which shall then increase to Rs. 2 per book per day after the first week.
3. Students must check the condition of the books before getting them issued, and if found damaged the same should be reported to the librarian.
4. If a book, after it is issued to a student, gets damaged or is lost the borrower (student) will be required to pay for the damages or loss. Loss of books should be immediately reported to the librarian in writing.
5. Books from Reference Section are issued for consultation in the library against ID card between 10 AM and 4 PM. Students may also get one book issued from Reference Section for overnight study.
6. Students are required to take clearance from the library before the final examination.

7. Students are advised to keep the books at their designated place.
8. Library is a sacred place. It expects decency and decorum to be maintained not only by its staff but by the visitors and readers also. Therefore, the College expects its students to observe necessary silence while they are in the library.
